Recently refurbished by the QHotels Aldwark Manor can now hold its head high as one of North Yorkshire’s finest
golfing experiences.
Set amongst some staggeringly beautiful and peaceful North Yorkshire countryside the estate dates back to Queen Victoria’s reign and is accessed by the quietest of roads. Rice Lane takes you over the River Ure via the quaintest of singletrack bridges where a retired gentleman will ask for a measly 40p to retain the iron structure in all its glory – a small price to pay.
The entrance to the estate immediately announces itself as a place of grandeur and history and the sweeping driveway through the golf course up to the Manor itself gives you a taste of things to come.
The clubhouse
Dating back to 1865 Aldwark Manor House rests in a beautiful estate blessed with high cedar, oak and birch trees that form a natural canopy and shade to the environment. The flora and fauna cohabit the complex adding a little extra something to the natural splendour of the place.
The splendid hotel has 55 bedrooms, split between traditional in the manor house and contemporary in the new wing. Deluxe and fourposter suites are available to guests, all with the comfort and modern amenities one would expect from this superb four star hotel.
Aldwark Manor’s leisure facilities are second to none and include a swimming pool, gymnasium studio and power sports fitness suite. Be sure to try the drench showers, tropical mist fun shower, spa and steam rooms too!
Forming a corner of the impressive mansion the Terrace Bar will provide you with everything the golfer requires before and after the round. Serving a fine selection of culinary delights, the Terrace Bar sits afore the Manor House and is the ideal place to watch the sun dip away behind the canopy of the cedar trees above. The changing facilities are first class and are found behind Alastair Grindlay’s professional shop. Bulging with all manner of top end apparel and equipment Alastair and his assistants are sure to relieve you of a few quid before you set off.
Once you have emptied your wallet in the shop and filled yourself with the energy required from the bar it’s time to tackle one of North Yorkshire’s finest golf courses.
