Course
Ashby Decoy Golf Club was originally a farm estate but over the years it has been carefully developed into a superb 18-hole golf course, one that none other than former Open and US Open champion Tony Jacklin learned his craft on.
Both he and his father were members here and, unsurprisingly, Tony once held the course record. Rich in local wildlife, the course can be enjoyed by golfers of virtually every ability level.
The 18-hole par-71 course plays to 6,237 yards from the white tees, 6,012 from the yellows and 5,372 from the reds. The Ashby Decoy course is generally flat and beautifully enhanced with fine indigenous silver birch and oak trees.
It is blessed with an excellent and challenging layout that requires you to think your way from tee to green. The fairways are, in general, quite tight and demand a good drive to reap a good score. But the challenge does not end there. The greens, while being fairly flat, are also quite small by modern standards, meaning your approach play will have to be pretty tidy too if you’re going to beat your handicap.
