Aston Wood Golf Club is one of the finest examples in the country of a modern thinking, contemporary golf club

Golf Ball
Lying within the heart of England, the nearby M6, M40 and M42 networks, make it easily accessible not only from Birmingham but also the rest of the country.

Designed by the renowned and respected duo of Peter Allis and Clive Clark in the mid nineties, Aston Wood has come a long way in a short period of time. The golf course has matured well and belies its young age.

It presents a fantastic test of golf, well placed bunkers, water features, semi mature copses and undulating greens makes Aston Wood the ideal venue for all abilities.

The Blue (back) tees, measuring 6590 yards and with a par of 71 will challenge the seasoned pro and low handicap amateur, while the white and yellow tees provides a slightly less strenuous walk.

A glance at the length of the opening hole on the scorecard at Aston Wood and you would be forgiven to think you are in for a gentle start. A modest par 4 of just 335 yards, however what this hole lacks in length it makes up for in hazards.

You must carry a small lake with a long iron, hybrid or fairway wood and place your tee shot to the left into a very thin sliver of fairway to avoid a huge cavernous group of bunkers to the right that dominates the view from the opening tee.

The bigger hitters may consider blasting over all the trouble with the “big stick” which is definitely possible, but trouble lurks as out of view from the tee a creek cuts across this fairway short of the green and is certainly reachable with a driver. From a well positioned drive a short pitch to the green could well set up a birdie chance to start.

Water features and lakes come into play on many of the holes at Aston Wood and it starts in earnest at the daunting Par 3 seventh.
