Courses
The Lakes Course, beautifully peppered with water hazards, Is a par-72 championship course which can be a tricky course for high handicappers, with lakes guarding the approaches to many greens.
Course management and shot placement is key here. The holes are long and the fairways tight, so anything wayward from the tee could result in you having to lay up in front of the water. Renowned for the 9th hole which is over 600 yards, one of the longest in Europe.
The Woodside contrasts with the Lakes course in many ways - it is well worth playing both if you are there on a weekend golf break. It’s a tad shorter at 6,623 yards long, but offers some great views across the whole of the complex and runs along the forested estate - spectacular at any time of year - especially in the autumn. The undulating fairways and natural hazards need careful negotiation - this is a real thinkers’ course for high handicappers and pros alike.
