Set in the heart of 350 acres in what was once the great Keavil Estate near the city of Dunfermline, the ancient capital of Scotland, the Forrester Park Golf Club is one of Scotland?s newest golf courses.
It opened for play in July 2001 and was the first new course to be built in this part of the ancient Kingdom of Fife for more than half a century..
The course
The Forrester Park layout winds its way through rolling parkland and features an array of streams and ponds that come into play on nine of the 18 holes making for an interesting challenge. The greens have been built to full USGA specification and are large in area. In many cases they are quite severely contoured demanding a steady hand with the putter.
The course is renowned for the quality of its putting surfaces and the fact that it is playable for twelve months of the year. There is no ?winter rules? golf at Forrester Park. Greens and tees are in full-time use throughout the year with only heavy frost or snow preventing unrestricted play.
At a time when many courses have already moved to fairway mats in winter and effectively relegated the game to a summer pursuit, Forrester Park is in the vanguard of the movement to return golf to the all-year-round game, which it traditionally is and was for generations.
Conditions at Forrester Park are almost as good in winter as they are in summer with virtually nothing to differentiate the seasons other than the weather.
At the top end of the course there are rich, panoramic views across the Fife countryside to the south and the course has been rated highly enough to be asked to host the National Boys Open Team Championship in September 2005 and the first ever Quad Nations event played in 2007 and won by Wales.
