Since 1987 around 800 new courses have been built in the UK and at present supply of golf courses by far exceeds demand. A report by the English Golf Union in 2008 estimates that there are around 4 million regular golfers in the UK, but just 28% are members of golf clubs. Waiting lists are now very rare with around half of Britain’s golf clubs experiencing falling memberships and only 58% of clubs now charging joining fees for adults, down from 76% in 2004. These are trends that show no sign of abating.
This means it is more important than ever for clubs to capitalise on opportunities for generating income from other sources, especially if these opportunities utilise the course and fill the bar, dining and conferencing facilities during off-peak periods, which for most clubs counts as most of the week and even large chunks of the weekend.
This is where PGA CityGolf steps in.
PGA City Golf helps partnership golf clubs attract “corporate golfers” that would not otherwise have visited the club.
PGA City Golf Corporate Clients visit the club on a regular basis and entertain their key clients on the course, in the bar and the restaurant. In addition, many use the clubhouse for business meetings and conferencing, unlike the “one-off” golfer who may visit through a traditional 2-for-1 voucher scheme:
This results in significantly increased revenues in the pro shop, bar and catering areas of the club, helping the club to balance its books or boost its profits.
Reaching this valuable new audience of Corporate Clients is something PGA City Golf specialises in – it has over 8 years’ experience marketing golf clubs to the corporate sector all around the UK.
PGA City Golf has over 50 trained sales advisors who have the power and know-how to contact over 20,000 local businesses per week to promote partnership clubs.
The sales advisors are taught to observe the highest degree of professionalism and are trained to the highest standards in call handling to promote all of the facilities available at the club, to generate name awareness but more importantly to provide new “members”.
PGA CityGolf now works with around 200 golf clubs around the UK and that figure is climbing all the time. Why? Because we have found a solution that meets the needs of the golfer, the golf club and the club pro. For more information call PGA CityGolf’s Marketing Director, Douglas King, on 0870 300 3005.
